History From An Astrological Perspective
By Linda Brady

“Our souls have experienced many ages as the procession of the Equinox slowly moves through the twelve astrological constellations. Every two thousand years or so – at the beginning of each age – we have taken a major step toward heightened spiritual awareness and maturity.” Linda Brady and Evan St. Lifer from “Discovering Your Soul Mission”

During these two thousand year cycles our universe enters into a distinctly different reflective cycle of new energy and fresh experiences, symbolically represented by the characteristics of an astrological sign. Having recently left the Age of Pisces, we proceed into the Age of Aquarius. When Uranus moved into the sign of Pisces, it promised to create freedom and independence from old Piscean beliefs that we have learned in the last two thousand years. Those beliefs keep us from being happy and successful. We must understand the previous two thousand year cycle in order to fully experience the Uranus in Pisces cycle.

Birth of Christ until 1998 A.D.
The Piscean Age corresponds to the New Testament and the advent of Christianity. It is a direct response to the savagery that was the Age of Aries, the previous 2,000 year period. Christ symbolized love and compassion. (Pisces is a water sign and water symbolizes emotion.) He spoke about God, not as an angry God, but as a God of forgiveness. Christ was the son of this loving God, a lamb, a gentle creature. Having died for humanity’s sins, he became the victim and the redeemer. Pisces is the martyr, sacrificing itself for the needs of others. Christ’s resurrection symbolized the rebirth into spirit, a Pisces reality. Throughout his short life there was a plethora of Piscean symbols: baptism by water, the washing of feet, disciples who were fisherman, turning water into wine, miracles, spiritual healing, drawing fish in the sand and so many more. Christ’s message was forgiveness, which is what Pisces does best! On a psychological level the Piscean Age brought about an emotional need to take responsibility for our actions. We now refer to that as feeling guilty! It taught us to value controlling our impulsive and aggressive actions (Aries). Emulating Christ became the ideal.

The sign opposing Pisces is Virgo, which had a great affect on humanity. “Cleanliness is next to godliness” is a symbolic Pisces/Virgo experience. Puritanism and the Victorian age are clear manifestations of the purity, humility and chastity of Virgo.

The following poster explains my view of how the Piscean age has affected us. Many of these beliefs served us well in the time in which we learned them. In the Age of Aquarius they must be altered to fit the energies that we are currently experiencing.

The Pisces Poster

The Beliefs that Symbolized an Age:

  • Christ is the archetype of sacrifice and redemption. We must emulate Him; therefore we must be a martyr and a victim/savior.

  • Christ is perfect; therefore we must strive for perfection.

  • We are sinful and create guilt. Our journey to redemption is through penance and sacrifice.

  • God exists outside of us. We are basically inadequate and child like and need an external God force to guide our lives.

  • The spiritual plane is more significant than the material plane, so earthly pleasures are to be denounced.

  • Heaven (good) and Hell (evil) are the only choices after our earthly existence therefore all important life decisions exist in an extreme right/wrong paradigm.

  • Love conquers all so we must not be self centered.

  • Humility and compassion are morally correct so we must always “turn the other cheek.”

  • Religious authorities represent God’s word on earth and are not to be questioned.

The following poster is my view of the beliefs that support the Aquarian Age. Please take time to review the differences. Evaluate what beliefs feel more comfortable to you. Decide what attitudes you need to change.

The Aquarian Poster

I know that my soul creates my life experience for my highest good.

I am self-empowered when I take personal responsibility for my life.

I pursue my soul’s mission with commitment and action.

I love the excitement of living a life of Serendipity.

I understand that my soul and personality need to be integrated.

I know that my mind, body and spirit need to be understood equally.

I honor my soul contracts and learn from them everyday.

I resolve past life conflicts and actively free myself from guilt.

I know that my soul lovingly connects to all souls.

I love and honor myself as I love and honor others.

Uranus in Pisces brings us the experiences necessary to break free of old problematic attitudes. These attitudes keep us in an extreme paradigm that may limit our personal connection to our soul and to God. Creative thinking shifts our attitudes away from Pisces onto the Aquarian Path. Uranus helps us by bringing innovative, imaginative ideas and thoughts that awaken us to hearing the voice of God and our soul. We have seven years to live our lives differently with excitement and hope.
