Star LightsPluto In Sagittarius"Star Lights" is a monthly article presented by Karmic Astrologers, Nina Baker and Linda Adams. This Astrological series is designed to highlight important Lunar/Planetary/Sign Cycles. The purpose of Star Lights is to provide a concise Astrological resource with insights for those on a Soul Journey. The Planet Pluto entered the sign of Sagittarius on January 18, 1995 and will remain until January 26, 2008. This 13 year Planetary cycle encompasses a generation of philosophical thinkers born during this cycle. They represent freedom, truth, and spiritual aspirations. Pluto, a distant planet in our solar system, symbolizes power, death, secrecy, destruction, and chaos, as well as transformation and renaissance. Its connection with elimination, violence, and renewal creates an opportunity for important changes to occur in our lives. The Pluto in Sagittarius cycle provides the catalyst for universal regeneration. The energies of Sagittarius propel freedom, truth, open-mindedness, optimism, and spirituality. It is a time to reexamine personal belief systems, travel, education, and world activities. Therefore, is this not a moment in our history when we are seeing the possibilities to soar above the tragedies that have affected us deeply? The terrorist attack upon America on September 11, 2001 is symbolic of Pluto in Sagittarius. Firstly, we look at the terrorists who've proclaimed a jihad (holy war) upon America. This declaration justifies their distortion of Islamic law as covert actions have taken place. In order to penetrate the American culture their efforts have taken on a new meaning to the phrase "leading a double life." The hidden agenda became pronounced as the terrorists and their network members used disguises (shaving beards, dressing in denim, using fake identifications) to appear American, trained as airline pilots, and posed as everyday people. They have used these disguises to secretly infiltrate U.S. travel systems, utilize electronic devices, and transfer monetary support to foster their schemes. A second symbol of Pluto in Sagittarius is the outrage that we collectively feel. The secret planning and sneak attacks, using innocent lives, piloting U.S. planes as "suicide missions" into national landmarks, declaring war without abiding by rules of war, and any process that enhanced these assaults goes beyond our rational comprehension. As other countries display their support for America, we see that the intensity of emotions extends well beyond the boundaries of our homeland. Yet, we must allow ourselves to feel. Let us be sure that we do not suppress our feelings; let us speak our rage, dialogue with our neighbors, and write about our anger as methods to channel our intensity. We have the power to transform our wounds, our selves, and our nation. Thirdly, airline travel was eliminated or suspended after the 9/11/01 attack. This consequence was yet another symbolic form of the oppressive power of Pluto upon the freedom to travel, and to engage with others in various places of the country. To date, we continue to hear about threats of violence against the American traveling systems and our infrastructure. However, a fourth key point of the Pluto in Sagittarius symbol is that we have acknowledged the positive forces arising out of death and destruction. With great passion and with spirit we are creating a new world vision for unity and for the ideals of freedom. Now there is a collective awareness among world leaders that an alliance promotes a strong mission to protect life, liberty, and freedom. In addition, a patriotic spirit in America has prevailed since the September 11, 2001 attacks. There is renewed respect not only for our country, but also for the soldiers past and present who bravely battled in war, and the firemen and policemen who risk their lives everyday to maintain our safety and our security. We realize that these people are the true heroes. Like the centaur (half-man, half-horse), aiming high with his arrow, we are compelled to transform our preconceptions to create a world of tolerance on many levels. This is Pluto in Sagittarius!
